Have you ever been in the right place at the right time?

I wasn’t supposed to be working at bookshop the Sunday Beth came in. I had just closed the third iteration of my pop up creative space, Curious & Kind, just three days before.

I had lost the jingle in my favourite necklace on the last day of that space so I was wearing a locally made moon pendant I’d picked up when I’d first moved to Lunenburg nearly three years ago.

She arrived with a camera around her neck…and the very same necklace I was wearing…that she’d just bought across the street.

I’d find that out after we started talking about taking photographs. I mentioned my partner and I had just gotten a camera so we could go on photography adventures…and how Ana big it was to have a partner who would slow down and take pictures with me…with no resentment or rushing.

It was in that moment we connected. There was this feeling of connection. Like we’d opened a channel between our hearts. Yeah it’s cheesy, but I don’t care. It was a perfect moment. And then she stayed and we talked and talked and all of a sudden, we were friends.

I think sometimes people are afraid of that kind of immediate connection.

Knowing Beth is like, the opposite of fear. She is a safe harbour. A joyful brilliant sparkling grounded airship ready to take flight if the winds pick up. She is a fierce protector and a gentle co-conspirator. There is no box that can fit her.

It’s as if our paths existed parallel, on similar trajectories…and there was a small nudge, from who knows where, and our paths became a crossroads. And instead of ignoring the sign…we chose to be curious. We decided to see what would happen if our forces combined.

…and now she lives in Lunenburg too.

This is just our prologue. I can’t wait (but love how we are taking this slow) to see where the winds carry us.
